Why Dharma Camp?

Twice a year, at True Buddha School’s Grand Ceremonies, His Holiness Living Buddha Lian Sheng transmits priceless dharmas that can change lives for the better. Yet of all who attend and receive the empowerment, many go home unsure of what to do, whether they are at the level needed, or whether they are having real spiritual responses. Doubting their ability to put what they’ve learned into practice, they may park the new dharma for a time in the future when they better know what to do with it.

Since 2023, the Lotus Light Temple has been facilitating a 3-day intensive practice retreat featuring the newly transmitted deity in the sacred spaces of the Lotus Light Temple and Monastery. This special event is called Dharma Camp, and it is held in the week following the Grand Ceremony. Led by Master Lian Tzi, it helps students quickly become proficient in the new dharma practice so they can go home confident that they will be able to continue practicing it and gain its benefits.

Who Is This For?

All levels of students, from newcomers to experienced yogis, are welcomed. You will be benefited by group and individual tuition in a friendly environment that takes your practice to the next level. Classes are held in a bilingual Chinese and English format, using live translation, to make an inclusive learning atmosphere. Both local and international disciples have warmly received this opportunity, with many saying they not only learned a lot, the friendships and experiences they had keep them strong in their spiritual commitments as they return to their ordinary lives.

When Is This Happening?

The 2025 Lotus Light Spring Chanting and Meditation Tantric Dharma Camp will be held at Lotus Light Temple / Lotus Light Monastery, BC, Canada, from February 13th Thursday to 15th Saturday.

What Are The Practicalities?

Overseas students usually travel from Seattle to Vancouver, B.C. Canada on Wednesday 12th – it is about 3hrs by car, or 4hrs by bus or train. They then stay overnight to be ready for learning from 10:30am till 6pm on Thursday and Friday.

A delicious free buffet style hot lunch is included daily and students go out for dinner together Friday night and make new dharma friends.

On Saturday, Master Lian Tzi conducts a Fire Homa and gives a final teaching, finishing by 1pm so there is plenty of time to return to Seattle for Grandmaster Lu’s teaching starting at 8pm.

International students say they highly appreciate this format as it gives them maximum immersion in their practice for the cost of their flights to Seattle. Limited accommodation for overseas disciples is available on a first-come, first-served basis, or one can book with the many hotels and AirBnBs locally if preferred.
